04 February Trekking in Morocco and Southern Europe Peter Gates
Peter and Caroline went e-bike touring in Brittany and
trekking in the Rif Mountains (Morocco), Picos de Europa (northern Spain), GR211 (Mallorca) and the Dolomites. They stayed in mountain refugios and had no qualms about using gondolas to help with the uphill.

Liz and Alan explored a wide variety of Parks with National Geographic, including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, as well as others not so well known. Worryingly, they experienced unseasonably hot weather in late September and early October.

Marcus biked down the Baja Peninsula, crisscrossing mountains between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez.
08 April Annapurna Circuit 1981 Peter Smith
In 1981 Peter and Trish walked around the Annapurna circuit in Nepal over Throng La at 5,416m. Back then the Marsyangdi Trail from Dumre had just opened up. Today much of the trail is covered by motorised roads.
15 April Ōhau and Ben Ōhau Ranges Gerald Leather
Gerald and Peggy Munn led a week-long expedition based at Lake Ōhau. The party enjoyed walks in the Ōhau and Ben Ōhau ranges and found some surprises behind the uniform, sun-baked hills that surround the MacKenzie Basin.

Maarten started bagging huts when he joined WTMC in 2010 and has now visited every hut in the North Island.
29 April Monitoring marine ecosystems: impacts of coastal change on pāua
Katie Fenton, a Michael Taylor Award recipient, is pursuing a PhD in marine biology. Her thesis aims to understand how increasing intensity of global climate and local environmental stressors influences the growth, distribution, and survival of Haliotis iris, the blackfoot pāua.

Sarah and Paul McCredie journeyed to the headwaters of the Karangarua and Douglas Rivers, deep in southern Westland.
13 May Ball Ridge/Ball Pass traverse, Aoraki Mt Cook
Janette, Devon, Peggy and Chris went to Ball Pass(approve sites) on Aoraki Mt Cook. It was a really great trip, with some challenging terrain. And a wonderful place to celebrate a 70th birthday.
20 May Langtang Valley trek in Nepal Geoff Marshall
Geoff did a six-day trek in the Langtang Valley. The trek climbs through a forested valley to around 3,000 metres elevation, then continues up a wide valley surrounded by snow-clad peaks to Kyanjing Gompa.

03 June Volunteering with DoC on Rakiura Sarah Fisher
During a 15-day FMC scholarship trip, Sarah assisted saving the critically endangered southern New Zealand dotterel population, sat out a wild storm on Tin Range, and came across an untamed mud monster that tried to capture an unsuspecting tramper in a waist-deep mud hole.

17 June Bibbulmun Track Lara Shepherd and Leon Perrie
Lara and Leon did a 43 day end-to-end of the Bibbulmun Track from Perth to Albany in southwestern Australia. This 1,000 km track traverses open gumlands, granite outcrops, dense forest and beaches. Highlights included these diverse landscapes, snakes and other wildlife, and a huge variety of colourful wildflowers.
24 June Birds of Te Araroa Trail Colin Miskelly
Te Papa natural history curator Colin walked from Te Rerenga Wairua to Bluff along Te Araroa trail, counting every bird seen or heard along the way. Afterwards he looked at what difference (if any) predator trapping has made to the abundance of native birds. See Te Papa Te Araroa Trail Blog

08 July World Heritage values of China's Long March route Les Molloy
Les has evaluated for World Heritage listing the outstanding natural heritage values (geodiversity and biodiversity) of places that lie along or are close to the route/s of the Long March, the epic 3,000 km retreat of the Chinese Communist Party's armies in 1934-35.
15 July National parks of Tasmania Diana Barnes
Diana went on an organised short trip to Tasmania, visiting several national parks and wilderness areas. An added appeal was seeing some native animals such as the pademelon.
22 July Nocturnal activity of wild kākā Tirth Vaishnav
Kākā are a diurnal species (active during the day), but what are they doing up and about after dark? With funding from the Michael Taylor Memorial Award, Tirth undertook a field investigation of daytime and night-time activity patterns of kākā within the Zealandia ecosanctuary.

Oliver journeyed into ski touring 20+ years ago while exploring some of Europe's northernmost wilderness areas: Urho Kekkonen National Park, Nordkalottleden, Sarek National Park and Rogen.

30 September Trips on the Fox and Franz Joseph Glaciers Paul Maxim and Dave Bamford
In the spring of 2024, Paul attempted a climb of Mt Tasman with three other club members, and with an aging bunch of Alpine Club members traversed the Franz and Fox Glaciers to try and locate the exact position of the historic and long-abandoned Teichelmann camp on Pioneer Ridge.

Richard says LINZ is known for its maps and charts and official record of land ownership and property boundaries.
But it also delivers ‘interesting and surprising things’, from hydrographic surveys and aerial coastal mapping to a groundbreaking project to improve GPS in Australasia.

28 October A visit to Peru and Bolivia Peter Morten
Peter and Rachel Fry walked the Inca Trail (high point 4,200 m) and went up Rainbow Mountain to just over 5,000 m. They spent some time around Lake Titicaca, walked around the top of the second-deepest canyon in the world, and did a tour of the Bolivian salt flats.
04 November The Western Hills and the Korimako Track John Hill & Graham Weir
The Korimako Track is to be a continuous low level walking track from the Northern Walkway to Ōtari, passing above Khandallah, Ngaio and Crofton Downs. The first section took volunteers six months to build and was officially opened to the public on 23 August.
11 November A hike along the Kungsleden Stefan Fairweather
Stefan walked 430 kilometers from Abisko to Hemavan in northern Sweden along the famous Kungsleden (‘King’s) trail, traversing diverse subarctic landscapes - mountain tundra, birch forests, lakes, towering peaks and small mountain villages.
18 November Winter on the Paparoa Track
Liz Martin and Alan Graham walked the Paparoa track with Paul Bruce and Pip Newton.
The Bay of Fundy
An Air Canada strike gave Alan Graham and Liz Martin an unexpected opportunity to explore part of Nova Scotia. They discovered that Burncoat Head has the world's highest recorded tide range of 21.6 metres (with an average of 17 metres.)
25 November A good friend of Te Mana o Kupe/Mana Island Philippa Doig
Philippa’s volunteering with the Friends of Mana Island goes back about 25 years, the past 10 on the executive committee. She has been on DoC planting trips, helped with endangered plant monitoring and two seabird translocations, and attended many weekend work parties on Mana Island.
02 December A return to France Geoffroy Lamarche
Geoffroy and Paula Fielden spent three months exploring and re-exploring Southeast France - cycling over some of the legendary cols of the Tour de France, hiking, and even doing a little climbing - while savoring a return to French culture and culinary delights.
09 December End-of-year ‘Christmas finale’ Social Committee
Enjoy a convivial evening with fellow club members. Wine, Christmas cake and mince pies will be served and the TTC band will play Christmas carols and tramping songs. You are welcome to bring a Christmas gift for a child in need.
