At the lodge

Tararua Lodge is is a comfortable self-catering lodge designed for group usage. It has 31 bunks in four rooms, new bathrooms with hot showers, a drying room, a new kitchen with a commercial dishwasher, dining room and a lounge with stunning views over the surrounding mountainside and countryside beyond.

The Lodge is at the same altitude as, and a 15 to 20 minute walk from, the top of the Rangitira Express chairlift, or a 45 minute or so walk, depending on conditions, from the the Top Of The Bruce road end. These times vary in winter due to snow conditions. This remoteness adds to the wilderness experience and in winter means you can ski to and from the Lodge.

Tararua Lodge is supplied with reticulated electricity and has mobile phone coverage and tank water.

In winter it provides excellent access to skiing, boarding, ski-touring, climbing and mountaineering activities, and in summer is ideally placed for walks, climbs and many other outdoor activities in and around Tongaririo National Park.
