Wednesday: Chris Horne ran a trip to Khandallah Park in perfect weather. Everyone received a copy of the plant list that co-leaders Michele, Lynne and Chris had prepared during a recce. The list had three columns: Botanical name, Te Reo name, common name. The plants were numbered so that people could find them quickly when each plant was being discussed, and tick the name and write a note.
Using all of our senses, we concentrated on learning plants by the look of their leaves or fronds, their feel, their perfume when crushed, and sometimes their taste.
Cuppas and cakes on Cafe du Parc's shady deck were a fitting end to a satisfying trip, with 13 members, and 2 non members.
