Weekend: Ski week: Windy early in the week, fresh snow rapidly disappeared. Lifts closed early due to wind. Low numbers on field over weekend, rain on Friday night and Saturday removed a lot of snow Monday was best of school holidays, all lifts going and great spring snow. 34 people stayed at the lodge at one stage or another during the week.
6 members were on the trip. Up the Pelorus river to Middy hut on the Saturday was in some dampness then some sun; on Sunday up steeply via Conical Knob and the wire rope to Mt Fell, a climb of some 1400 metres, with some great views on the way up to Conical Knob, but cloud after that - some spectacular drops loomed out of the cloud however - then down to the Wairau side of the range on the Monday, in glorious sun. Clematis in flower, birds in song, tall trees and clear rivers. We enjoyed ourselves, with some anxious moments on Sunday night listening to the game in Mt Fell hut.
