Tramping Reports Wednesday 2011 Aug 03 to Tuesday 2011 Aug 09
Wednesday:
Lois Hope led an E/M walk to Makara Peak, with 17 members, and 3 non members. They had a pleasant walk, with magnificent views from Makara Peak.
David Ogilvie led a M walk from Battle Hill into the area of the anemometer tower, towards Wainui. A nice day, a 6 hour walk. 20 members.
Weekend:
Jude Willis led an E/M trip to Mt Reeves, Tutuwai and Cone Saddle. 2 members, windy on Mt Reeves. Tutuwai Hut is now all fixed up and windfalls cleared. Going out via the Totara Flats direction made a long day.
Saturday:
Neil Challands led a M trip to Mt Climie: 12 members and 1 non-member climbed up into the cloud and wind to Mt Climie and proceeded to an off track loop into Redington stream involving tight but not awful scrub before returning by another spur. Yet again this leader (self-flagellation, Neil!) failed to come in within the medium time band but everyone seemed to enjoy the 7.5 hour M/F adventure.
Sunday:
Tricia Walbridge led an E/M walk to Whakanui - top Turere: going up the Nikau Track as a diversion. Beautiful weather. 4 members, 1 non-member.
