WEDNESDAY EASY - GENTLE ANNIE TRACK - BUMP 801
A beautiful day. Had clear views of sunlit snow on the tops. Largely on interesting old unmapped tracks. (12 members, 1 non member)
MEDIUM/FIT SATURDAY TRIP
Thoroughly explored the Phillips Stream/Farm Creek/Marchant area, up steep spurs and down into the streams. (4 members)
MEDIUM TRIP - OLD WHAKANUI TRACK - WHAKANUI STREAM - TURERE STREAM
Followed route as specified. Nothing untoward. (5 members)
MEDIUM - PUTARA - CATTLE RIDGE
Set off in variable weather, looking forward to good food, wine and pleasant company. Two minutes short of Roaring Stag Lodge, the tramping organiser lost her footing and took a nasty fall, causing some anxious moments for her tramping buddies. After getting to RSL to regroup, inspect the damage and calm shattered body and group nerves, we returned to Hutt Hospital for repair work undertaken late on Saturday night. A very complete day with heaps of good scenery, drama and excitement. Thanks to Gwen Lauder for sound medical advice and to Diane for exemplary stiff upper lip resolve. (2 members, 1 non member)
SUNDAY EASY/MEDIUM - ORONGORONGO TRACK - BAINES HUT
Enjoyed a brisk walk along the Orongorongo Track. Morning tea at the river and lunch just below Haurangi Hut. Gentle rain, no wind. (7 members, 3 non members)
EASY - PUTARA - ROARING STAG HUT
Morning tea at Mt Bruce. Good tramp in, in fine weather. Smoked out by fireplace. Wet on Sunday. Went in search of Hidden Lake, but ran out of time. Enjoyed by all. (4 members, 2 non members)
SKI WEEK
Overcast weather, whiteout on Saturday, worse on Sunday, but everyone still skied. (23 members, 7 non members)
