Activity summary: Wednesday 2023 June 21 to Tuesday 2023 June 27
Belmont Regional Park Loop/Stokes Valley
Wednesday
Wednesday 21 June, 45 members attended the Club’s annual winter Solstice lunch of shared contributions at the Wilton Bowling Club, Wilton Road. In lovely fine weather, an Easy group and a Medium group enjoyed local walks for 2 hours before returning to eat and catch up with one another. Thanks to a few who contributed more than the scheduled fee of $7 door charge to cover costs, there is a healthy float for next year. Organisers: Michele Dickson and Lainey Cowan
Weekend
M Trip ‘Belmont Regional Park Loop’, to be led by Sieny Pollard, Sat 24/06
Postponed.
E Trip ‘Short Stokes Valley circuit’, led by Michele Dickson, Sun 25/06
In great weather, 3 members completed an easy Stokes Valley trip. We ascended the Kamahi Track, very steep and muddy to start, negotiating the track building underway and the canyon-like creek before plodding on the good part up to the ECNZ road. Plenty of evidence of deer and pigs. Heading south past the forestry operations we met others out from north and south exploring their local hills, and pondered over the domestic -type stack of baths filled with rain water. The track down the StokesValley/Naenae dividing ridge was in its usual good condition and Raukaua Street, our finish, was reached in the early afternoon. Michele Dickson, Alan Benge and Dudley Finter.
Total 48 members.
