Hugh Barr' ran a trip from Makara Beach, SW around the coast to Opau Bay stream comes in. Then to the poorly marked track winding up through cut gorse to the top of the tar-sealed farm track to beside Turbine B2. Then past the gun emplacements, and down the Walkway back to Makara Beach.

A large amount of driftwood has been dumped on the track, and it has been undermined more. DOC (or someone) appear to have cleared the track in places.Round the Point, there are some areas of white wood, washed up on the coast. It did not delay us.

We then went inland and up the track through the planted forest, at the end of which we had lunch (1,10 pm). From there we looked at the Parade Ground and the Gun emplacements. Then back down the Walkway back to Makara Beach. The Shop is closed until further notice. One of our party went for a swim, but came back smelling of seaweed.
