Wednesday: David Oglive ran a trip to Kaitoke Regional Park, starting on the Eastern Hutt River 4wd road to the collapsed hut, then dropped into Phillips Stream with the intention of reaching the peninsula. Although 2 hours longer than it should have been, party members felt that it was worth it just to see the waterfall. I expect many people will remember this trip for quite some time. with 13 members
Margaret Foden ran a trip to morning ferry to Matiu/Somes on a perfect day, hot and windless. Eight of those went for the day and the rest stayed the night in the DoC house. The trip highlight was seeing a large tuatara by the track and then a smaller one, well spotted by some younger eyes at night. Also beside a track is a miniature DoC hut made from recycled materials on the island, it is only there until April, with 14 members and 3 non-members
