Tramping Reports Wednesday 2011 Nov 02 to Tuesday 2011 Nov 08
Wednesday: Syd Moore ran a Korokoro exploration (E), with 12 members. They walked for 5 hours, before heavy rain began and they decided to end a bit early.
Peter Reimann led a Makara - Terawhiti trip (M) with 17 members. They walked from the gun emplacements to Opau Bay via Meridian's new loop track - "very loopy". On to a knoll about the next headland for lunch, return above the cliff line. Strong winds.
Weekend:
Sandra Bourguignon's Kime – Pakihore Ridge – Penn Creek trip was cancelled due to leader's unavailability.
The Field Hut work party was postponed until late November / early December, when it will be led by Julia Landymore.
Family:
Leigh Taggart led the Mums' Tramp. They had a total of 6 members, 5 non-members, with some change in participants between the two days. Saturday was 26km from Karori Park to Colonial Knob. Sunday they walked over Belmont Trig to Corney's Rd.
Saturday:
Peggy Munn led 4 members, 1 non-member on a Waiotauru Ridge walk (M). They went west along Waiotauru Ridge to bump 472, bashed down to the Waiotauru river through old logging debris, and returned by the river track to the Forks. The big slip near the carpark gave no trouble. They dodged 150 wilderness athletes who were running through the area.
Sunday:
Sheena Hudson led a walk Seatoun - Oriental Bay by Chris Horne routes (E/M). 15 Members and one dog started trip. At various points 4 members and one dog left the trip to take other options back. Fine sunny day with great views of Wellington and the harbour.
