Tramping Reports Wednesday 2010 Sep 01 to Tuesday 2010 Sep 07
Wednesday: Michelle Paterson ran a trip to Browns Bay, Whitby (E), with 14 members, and 6 non members. Fabulous weather, great views.
Bill Wheeler ran a trip to Cone in the Snow - unfortunately there was no snow. 5 members.
Saturday: Dave Bartle led 6 members and 1 non-member on an E. Holdsworth circuit (M), starting on the Powell side. Sun and lots of snow, starting at the rocky lookout. Ice axes and crampons came in handy for safety.
Neil Challands led an M/F day trip. 5 members followed the route towards Pukeatua from Otaki Forks and did a loop on spurs in the headwaters of Roaring Meg. "Great weather except for the hour and a half in mid morning while the sun melted all the fresh snow off the trees and all over us."
Sunday:
Kenny Taggart led 13 children and 8 adults, all members, on a Family bike trip over the Rimutaka Incline. It was very windy, and some of the children had a hard time making headway against the wind near the top, even though they were riding downhill! But over-all a fun day.
Michele Dickson led 10 members and 1 non-member on an E/M walk to Ohau Bay and Te Ikaamaru Bay via Terawhiti Station. At times it was quite windy along the ridge. They got a good view of the turbines; also got the feeling that the station management would prefer TTC not to ask to walk through there too often - maybe not more than once a year.
