Six members spent nine days exploring the Hopkins and Huxley valleys south of Twizel. The scenery among the snowy mountains was spectacular. Bad weather prevented a planned trip to Brodrick Pass, but didn’t stop other excursions. We did have three very good days. Thank you Hugh Barr.
On Sunday, 8 January, Mike Horvat and four other members enjoyed a day in the Smiths Creek area.
On Wednesday, 11 January, Peter Nixon led a trip from Kaukau to Johnstons Hill, in very windy conditions. They had lunch at Otari. 15 members and 5 non members
Ken Fraser led the off track exploration trip on Saturday, 14 January, up Waitatapia from Otaki Forks. They had lunch on top, in perfect conditions, and had a bit of navigational excitement finding their way back down. 5 members
The Sunday trip went up to Powell, but the conditions did not allow the group on to the tops. 3 members, 1 non member
