Tramping Reports Wednesday 2013 Sep 04 to Tuesday 2013 Sep 10

Wednesday:

Jean Morgan led a walk (E). Four optimistic members walked the Eastern Walkway, with a small detour, in very pleasant conditions (the lull before the storm) until the last half hour. The bad weather arrived spot on time as predicted by the Met. office. Later three members walked from Seatoun to the Kilbirnie bus station.

Paddy Gresham may have led a trip to Titahi Bay and Boom Rock (M), but his ph number seems to be disconnected.

Weekend:

Merran Lewis's E trip to Atiwhakatu Hut was cancelled.

Ski weekend may have been led by Cherie Marshall, but Charlie heard that there was no support so it was cancelled. Cherie's ph number is 'not currently active'.

Andrea Wiechern's climbing trip was cancelled due to illness.

Saturday:

On Cathy Wylie's trip (M) 10 trampers enjoyed finding their way to Marchant Forks, and after lunch there climbing through the forest back to the Marchant ridge track; a sometimes steep ascent, great views east, and some dense scrub at the top to push through. 9 members, 1 non-member.

Sunday:

Colleen Davey's EM trip to Powell Hut was cancelled.

Alison Stephenson is leading an EM trip on Sunday on the Eastern Hutt hills. Catch the 9.05 am train from Wellington to Naenae or meet at Woburn Station at 9.10 to catch the train which comes through at 9.22. "We will walk through Naenae up to the Rata St track, and climb to the ridge line which we follow around until it meets the track descending to Whites Line East. From there we follow White's Line (the street) back to Woburn Station. Shouldn't take more than 5 hours." Phone Alison (565 0059) if you want more details.
