Tramping Reports Wednesday 2012 Feb 13 to Tuesday 2012 Feb 19

Wednesday: Dave Currie's Ramble to Lees Grove, Wainuiomata did not run due to lack of support.

John Neas ran an EM day-walk, but I haven't been able to contact him.

Bill Stephenson ran a Belmont Regional Park exploration (M), but I haven't been able to contact him (565 0059)

Tricia French's trip Putara, Ruapae, Dundas Hut, Roaring Stag (13-14 Feb) was cancelled due to Wx (high winds forecast on tops).

Weekend:

Daniel Rogerson led a work party to Tararua Lodge. There were 6 members. They cleaned out the grease traps, washed linen and cushion covers, baited and trapped mice, did painting. Sheree will lead another work party next month.

Liz Martin led an EM trip to Kime. 5 members, 1 non-member went up to Field Hut on Friday, arriving c. 11 pm. When they arrived they found the hut full of young people cooking sausages, not anywhere near going to bed. "It's good to see that Field on a Friday night is still very much part of the tramping culture in the Tararuas!" On Saturday they visited the new hut construction site at Kim, and half the party climbed Mt Hector.

Sieny Pollard's Quoin-Alpha trip did not run (lack of support).

Hayden Richards' Northern Crossing did not run - no takers so he joined the work party.

Bush 1 occurred at Waerenga.

Saturday:

David Castle led a trip Catchpole - Clay Ridge - McKerrow Spur (M). 3 members, 2 non-members. As advertised, plus they went to have a look at Waerenga - crossing the Orongorongo over and back with dry boots.

Sunday:

Chris Horne led an EM trip Takapu Road - Korokoro, with 12 members.

Total 26 members and 3 non members
