Tramping Reports Wednesday 2011 Mar 2 to Tuesday 2011 Mar 8
Wednesday: 6 members were on Bill Wheeler's medium trip to Kotumu. They had lots of wind and rain, all very invigorating. Lois Hope changed her easy trip and went to Wilton Bush. 4 members enjoyed 2 hours in the rain. Janie Cook's evening bike ride in Belmont ... Also on the Wednesday 2 members went up to the Lodge on a food supply/stock take trip. It was very wet and the water tanks were overflowing.
Weekend: 5 club members crossed Rabbit Pass on the only fine day available. Rabbit Pass lived up to its reputation but all challenges were straightforward and overcome by good preparation and teamwork.
The family weekend trip to Morison Bush made the right choice. Friday evening was lovely. It rained over night but Saturday was beautiful warm weather allowing swimming, kayaking and walks. It rained again Saturday night and drizzled Sunday morning as they packed up. 10 members and 9 non-members had a great time.
Peter Tunnicliff's weekend E/M tramp to Roaring Stag hut did not run owing to the weather. Sandra Bourguignon's medium trip to Cattle Ridge did not run owing to weather.
Ken Fraser's Saturday medium off-track trip did not run because the leader seems to be out of town. Bob Cyffer's medium Sunday trip to Mt Barton did not run due to lack of interest as a result of the weather.
