Tramping Reports Wednesday 2010 Dec 08 to 2010 Dec 31

8 December 12 members and 3 non-members joined John Foden for a ramble and bbq at Battle Hill. There was a lot of activities happenning simultaneously which made life difficult for the leader.5 members were on John Thomson's trip from Waikawa - West Waitewaewae to Mick. They ran out of time and had to cut the corner and miss Mick.

Four members were on David Grainger’s trip up the Anti Crow river, a tributary of the Waimakariri. The original goal was a multi-day trip crossing into the Avoca valley to climb Mt Greenlaw. However, bad weather forced a shortened overnight trip. So the team wandered up to the Anti Crow headwaters, climbing to Gizeh Col and sighted Greenlaw before returning to a very pleasant bushline camp. Other trip days were spent bouldering at Castle Hill and rock climbing in the Christchurch Port Hills area.

10-12 December Peter Tunnicliffe was joined by 1 other member in what ended up as an overnight trip to the new Atiwhakatu hut. Peter Lapsley took 5 members and 1 non-member on an enjoyable walk to Red Rocks. Don McMaster's proposed Mckerrow - Orongorongo -Wakanui day trip did not run as there was no takers.

18 December Chris Munn's Marchant spur trip did not run owing to no interest in walking in the rain.

Hugh Barr’s Christmas trip had 4 members. They experienced two separate flood episodes but that didn’t stop them going up to the top of the Hopkins and most of the way up the Richardson Glacier. Interesting time for river crossing practice.

Four members enjoyed Waerenga hut between Christmas and New Year.
