Tramping Reports Wednesday 2010 Jul 26 to Tuesday 2010 Aug 3
Bill Stephenson led a party of 6 members and 1 non-member on the medium Wednesday trip through Belmont Regional Park. It was aglorious day and the route incorporated some new territory for everybody. Tony Vial led 12 members for an E/M tramp around the Plimmerton wetlands. Paul Jone's ramble to Pencarrow lighthouse had 6 members and 1 non-member. Half turned back halfway and the remainder went all the way to the lakes and back.
The ski weekend to the lodge was cancelled owing to insufficient numbers. The family group 'dads snow tramp' had 4 members and opted to do the Tongoriro northern circuit and climb of Ngauruhoe, which required crampons). Saturday was 10 hours in reasonable weather. Sunday was only 4 hours in miserable weather.
Kerry Popplewell's Medium "Wellington Wander" was quite a lengthy one which started and ended at the sub-station above Crofton Downs, and took in the Skyline Walk, British Peak, Karori Park, Wright's Hill, a newish track back up to but not along the Skyline Walk, and ended by climbing back up a muddy gully from the 'horse paddock' on to the road where it began. The leader thought she might lose some of her party either in the cafe in Karori Park or in the cemetery but managed to arrive back with all six members who started out.
Ray Markham's Sunday E/M Cattle Ridge was officially cancelled when no-one turned up at the rail station meeting point but one member went directly to the Catchpool and did the trip anyway. Apparently they managed to do most of the trip in the dry.
Total of 35 members and 2 non-members
