Tramping Reports Wednesday 2010 Jul 13 to Tuesday 2010 Jul 20
Tim McGuiness' Heaphy/Wangapeka trip had 7 members. They had 8 days with no significant rain but very cold. Lots of ice, frozen water supplies and wet frozen fire wood.
The Wednesday E/M Skyline Walkway - Tinakori Hill trip led by John Hill had 9 members who enjoyed a nice day. Dave Gobey led the BBB along the Mt Vic walkway had 5 members and 1 non-member for a good day.
Jenny Jackson spent the whole week at Tararua Lodge. There was 27 people in the lodge most nights. 7 magic windless days of skiing and 1 day of snow was the day of rest. Beginners were expert skiers by the end of the week.
The Saturday M/F was cancelled owing to the leader going on the climbing trip.
A party of 2 members led by Stu Hutson ascended the east face of Taranaki all the way to the Sharks Tooth in perfect conditions with no cloud and not too brisk a southerly.
Christine MacKenzie Sunday easy trip changed to a Butcher, Cattle Ridge circuit. 6 members enjoyed a good day if a bit cool.
Kerry Kubisch ran the family trip to Tunnel Gully. 9 members (4 adults, 5 kids) had a great day.
