Wednesday 9 to Tuesday 15 February

WEDNESDAY EASY - PATUNA CHASM WALK

A wee hiccup to start as they ventured onto the wrong property. Guided through the Chasm. Plenty to see: grotesque limestone shapes, fossilised shells and eels. Thoroughly recommend this walk. (8 members, 1 non member)

WEDNESDAY EVENING CYCLE – WHITIREIA PENINSULAR

Very pleasant evening – 1 ½ hours. (4 members)

EASY/MEDIUM – JUMBO-HOLDSWORTH

Very windy on top, but very exhilarating. (5 members)

MEDIUM – HOLDSWORTH-KAITOKE

Departed to Totara Flats Friday night. Gourmet meals all the way. Weather changeable. A great trip. (3 members)

SATURDAY MEDIUM/FIT – MAYMORN RIDGE

Maymorn Ridge to Renata Forks from Pakuratahi Forks. (They missed the forks!) 10 ½ hours tramping. (5 members, 1 non member)

SATURDAY MEDIUM TRIP – PANATEWAEWAE & BEYOND

From Tangimoana Road near Ohau, crossed farmland and climbed up to Spion Kop, then along the ridge to Panatewaewae and beyond. Pleasant day in perfect tramping conditions. (4 members, 1 non member)

SUNDAY FAMILY – TUBING LOWER TAUHEREHNIKAU GORGE

The river was stunning. Walked in, had lunch then spent 2 ½ hours tubing. Everyone had a ball. (31 members, 3 non members)

SUNDAY MOUNTAIN BIKING - KARAPOTI

The ride was challenging enough for the new people. Finished at a blueberry farm for ice creams. (5 members, 2 non members)

SUNDAY EASY/MEDIUM – POWELL HUT

Up to Powell Hut where DOC supplied a cup of tea. Met the Jumbo-Holdsworth crossing group on the way down. (6 members)

BUSHCRAFT 1 – INSTRUCTION & COMPASS WORK

Into Belmont Regional Park after instruction at the Club rooms. Windy at the trig. A detour coming down to confuse the instructees.
