Butterfly Creek E
Wednesday 14 June 2023
We had a few spits of rain to start the day at the bus barn. People teamed up and mostly arrived by car, which proved to be lucky as the 83 bus broke down and stranded Peter and Jean! The sun soon came out although it stayed pretty cold until the afternoon.
Ten of us started off on the steepish Bus Barn/Korohiwa track. We had a good number of pauses looking at orchids, fungi and the magnificent calm sunny harbour. Morning tea was at the Butterfly track junction on a very wet bench! Alison left us at the Mackenzie track junction after a group photo. We were soon at the Butterfly Creek picnic area enjoying lunch with a touch of declining sun. The route back was shorter and we enjoyed sunny, warm Greenwood Park near the beach before making it back to the cars.
A lovely day out with a delightful group!
The two who were very sorry to miss the trip were Peter Nixon and Jean Morgan!
