A short loop walk at Whareroa Farm E/M
Sunday 3 October 2021
Ten keen walkers turned up at the Whareroa Farm visitor centre [at the Whareroa Farm entry]. Some others (probably those who had not been on enough TTC trips to the Kapiti Coast!) went to the visitor centre in Queen Elizabeth Park, but soon realised their mistake. We set off along the track leading to the 'Hub' where there is a caravan with information about volunteering for planting, etc. We took the track leading to Centre View Spur, which goes past an old concrete reservoir. The route up the spur is marked by blue poles. We stopped for morning tea at a picnic table near the top with great views of Kapiti Island. It was overcast and cool but a great day for walking. After walking down Campbell Mill Road, we stopped for lunch at a picnic table and had a chat with three very keen young girls and their horses. We returned down the East Ridge Track, which is reserved for walkers, visiting the 'Dell' on the way back.
