Bothamley Park and beyond E
Wednesday 8 September 2021
With the Covid-19 alert level being lowered to Delta Level 2 two days before, a group of six masked persons (looking rather like bank robbers) set off from the Bothamley Park carpark to traverse the length of Bothamley Park and take in the Waihora Track. The timing of the trip was planned to get it in before the proposed closure of Bothamley Park for utility replacement, but the leader forgot until the day before the trip about the lambing season! So there was some expectation that, since part of the Waihora Track crosses a portion of the Belmont Regional Park working farm, we would have to turn back. On arrival at the farm gate, we found the track to be open, allowing us to complete the trip as well as inspect the progress of the Transmission Gully project.
The Waihora Track brought us down to the Cannons Creek Lakes for lunch. It was then a longish walk across Cannons Creek Park to Bothamley Park and the cars.
Weather-wise, the day was forecast to be terrible but turned out to be rather pleasant.
