Woburn — Eastbourne (E/M)
Sunday 21 August 2011
13 people (12 members and 1 non-member) met inside the Wellington Railway station and dominated a replacement bus bound for Woburn. Snow had brought down a few branches on the track to the top of the ridge, but efforts were well rewarded at the top when we were greeted by a magnificent panorama of snow-covered peaks from the Tararuas to the Rimutakas and the Inland and Seaward Kaikouras. After crossing into the East Harbour Regional Park, we found the track muddy after the snow and recent rain but had a great dry, sunny spot for lunch. On the ridge above Days Bay, the party split in two, some people deciding to follow the shorter Ferry Road track and others the longer Korimako Road track. A great day out ended with a superb ferry ride back to Wellington with the harbour and city looking its best
