Activity summary: Wednesday 2018 Aug 15 to Tuesday 2018 Aug 22

Wednesday: John Thompson ran an EM trip to Kaitoke Hill, Benge Ck and the Ridge Track. Damp but very little real rain, and a glimpse of sunshine for lunch. And open tracks encouraging lots of talk, with 13 members.

Dave Reynolds ran a Wainuiomata circuit. We did about 5 and a half hours in wet conditions,the trip was shortened due to the wet conditions, with 6 members.

David Ogilvie ran a Slow fit trip from the 4WD depot on the Maungakotukutuku Stream, up Perhams Rd, along the Rollercoaster, down Devils Staircase, up the Rock Garden and around to Maunganui, and back down to the cars. We enjoyed a 7 h 45 min walk, with 9 members.

Barbara Oglivie ran an E trip from Ngaio, down the Gorge and over Tinakori Hill to the Botanic Gardens where they were delighted to see the Botanical Art Worldwide Exhibition, with 7 members.

Weekend: Elizabeth Claridge reported the Youth Group's Ruapehu 'Snow skills' trip enjoyed brilliant weather for a highly successful weekend for the eight youngsters and three adults, with 12 members.

Saturday; Russell Cooke ran a trip from the Mangatarere road end climbing up from there in cold drizzle. The plan was to be off-track for most of it, but the weather suggested different. We climbed over the range and had lunch at Sayers Hut, before creeping along the Waiohine on the true right and then climbing the spur to point 768 after which we re-joined the track and descended to the road end.
