(updated June 2015) The role involves:
- being the custodian of the good name of the Club
- ensuring the Club is run effectively in accordance with its objects
- ensuring that all sub-committees are run effectively and for that purpose is an ex-officio member of all sub-committees
- ensuring that a report of the activities of the Club during the previous Year is produced annually and sent to each member of the Club with the notice calling the Annual General Meeting
- ensuring compliance with the legal obligations of the club
- being spokesperson for GC (impartial on
- being chair for GC meetings issues)
- being the spokesperson for Club both internally and externally
- possibly attending funerals of Club members
- attending 50 Year Member and Life member events
- chairing AGMs and EGMs
- being the person who has the main overview of the Club
- when a serious accident or death occurs on a trip, ensure that suitable pastoral care is made available to party members who may be distressed.
