Activity summary: Wednesday 2014 Nov 26 to Tuesday 2014 Dec 03

Wednesday: Michelle Dickson ran an EM trip to Gollons Stream catchemnt, with 5 members, 2 non members. Route was Days Bay - Gollans - old route to East Ridge - back to Gollans on next trapping line - up exclosure track - Korimako Tk in good weather, no problems.

Colin Cook ran a trip to Northrn RuRimutukas whence 10 members endured the trip from hell after Tuesday night rain made the Tauherenikau uncrossable so that an alternative had to be dreamed up. From Bucks Road end we followed the DoC sidle track to its termination in the gorge then transferred to the Kaumatua Track and continued up the gorge. After a while we found ourselves crossing a vast swamp and then, climbing up to Frith, encountered very unwelcoming vegetation. From Frith we took the ridge track north back to Bucks Road and found its northern parts had pretty much succumbed to gorse.

Lynne Pomare ran a trip to Wainui-Catchpole ridges with ten members who did a 6.5 hour circuit with a lot of off track travel from Camp Wainui, up Upper Graces Stream and onto McKerrow. We travelled north along the main track then descended to the cars via the Coast Road track and Bivvy Track. Another fine day; no wasps this time!

Dave Gobey ran a trip to Ridgeway with 14 members, who all had an enjoyable day out.

Weekend:

Bharat Pancha & Ann Matthews were the bushcraft instructors for 15 Duke of Edinburgh bronze level students and two club members on a TTC youth bushcraft course stayed at Waerenga Hut. For some of the students it was their first overnight tramp. One other club member was also at Waerenga Hut and painted windows, cleaned the inside toilet walls and packed up rubbish from on old but now exposed rubbish pit.

Family:

There was plenty of sun on Saturday as 16 people enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of a classic Morison Bush family and members camping trip. In fact some pink skin was to be seen on Sunday. Camp fire and fireworks were enjoyed by all on Saturday night. Walks around the area were enjoyed on both Saturday and Sunday. On the way home icecreams and the cheese shop at Featherston made a great stop before the hill. There were approximately 7 members and 9 non-members, 6 adults, 7 youth, and 3 kids. Simon Davis

Sunday:

Total 42 members and 7non members and 25 younglings (children and teen-agers)
